You matter. You are important. Did you hear me? YOU MATTER.
You want to know an interested fact? The odds of you being born in this particular time, place and circumstance are about 1 in 400,000,000,000. You have a greater chance of being struck by lightning or becoming President of the United States. Of all the people, in all the world, you arrived.
I’ll never forget the day my wife (at that time, my girlfriend) walked into my office her eyes filled with tears. She was doing her best to hold them back. This was the day that she discovered that she would never be able to have children. There were so many emotions that filled mind at the moment. Anger. Disbelief. Fear. Sadness. I was all over the map. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I couldn’t work through my issues and help her with hers. So I set me aside. It’s a skill I never knew I had. And it was a skill that would never hold more value than it did right then.
We had always talked about kids. We had dreamed of what our lives would be like. And 6 months before we were to be married, a bombshell hit. I took her by the hand and walked out of work. I didn’t say a thing. I think I scared my boss. She would later chastise me for not telling her. At didn’t know what else to do. Fear had overtaken me.
I spent the night researching the doctor’s diagnosis even dosing off at my laptop. A note to those dealing with medical conditions, that I have learned since. Don’t go to webMD first. Go to the healer that created your very body… the first healer… God. He cares more for you than you can possibly imagine. He longs to take you into his embrace and give you his wonderful gift of healing. Okay. Where was I. I had the spent the night researching. Tears had flowed. I felt complete powerless. I even began to question if this was somehow my fault. My punishment for the sins of my past. Oh how wrong I was. God, who works all things together for HIS good, was working on my behalf even then.
In the following months, we didn’t really discuss the issue that much. We love each other, laughed with each other, and cried with each other. Shortly after getting married, we moved to a new city where we knew no one. Here we were, a modern-day Abram & Sarai. I had journeyed across to a new land with my barren wife.
Thank God we had come to a church that taught us the Word of God, where we had pastors and teachers who taught us how to leverage the wisdom of the Word. Where we would receive not only healing, but also revelation of God’s plan for our lives. Fast forward to today. We have my son James (8), Zoe (6), and our son will born in just about 4-6 weeks. God has been so faithful to my family.
After once being denied the ability to produce life and then holding my son and then years later, my daughter, and now awaiting the arrival of my second son—I can not look at life and not see all the potential. I can not look at life and not see hope. EVERY life is precious. Especially YOURS. So if you are reading this and feeling alone, empty inside, or hopeless, keep reading. I’ve been there. But God wants to restore hope to you, to fill you with joy, and to take you into his loving arms.
But you don’t have to take my word for it…
